Sound Of Guns - Elementary Of Youth

by Joe Richardson | Friday 24 September 2010

I’ve just heard a brilliant story about Sound Of Guns. I've no idea if it’s true or not but it does make for a great tale. Apparently, just before a gig in Wakefield the band where arrested by the police. The police had received a tip off that scouse accents had been heard coming from the back of a van talking about guns so, they went and arrested them.

Now, police stereotyping aside, Sound Of Guns sound very little like any other band Liverpool and “Elementary Of Youth” is a good example of this. The verse builds and builds before the band launch into the chorus, break it down and begin the building process again. It’s a formula that you can not but help be drawn in by.

Sound Of Guns carry their influences of The Doors and Led Zeppelin on their sleeves and, in their hearts and in their song writing. They aren’t the finished article yet but they are writing some good tracks that have a distinctive British guitar band feel to them and this could see them go far. One for the fans of bands such as The Courteeners and The Twang.
