The Xcerts - Nightschool

The Xcerts

To be honest, I'm finding it hard to review this single by the hotly tipped The Xcerts as the CD i have been sent is badly scratched and keeps jumping and skipping in the CD player. So, I have resorted to listening to the tune a few times on their MySpace page which isn't ideal as my internet appears to be having a go slow day in protest that I'm asking it to stream a lot of music today.

Technical issues aside this is a nice, uptempo affair that is full of youthful promise and excitement for the music that the band are making. Taking clear nods from their fellow countrymen Biffy Clyro, "Night School" builds to a rousing crescendo before a slower, quieter bridge and then bouncing back to finish the song off.

I'm afraid I can't really comment on the B side "Home vs Home" as it is pretty much unlistenable with the CD still refusing to play properly. Even without hearing the B side this is a good, rocky, uptempo and exciting effort from The Xcerts. It's easy to see what all the fuss is about.
